| Elmhurst Historical Society The Elmhurst Historical Society wished to congratulate our entire community and thank everyone involved in the passage of the Historic Preservation Ordinance. We appreciate the hard work that has been done, starting with Mayor Marcucci appointing the Historic Preservation Ad Hoc Committee. This committee was a broad cross-section of professionals from the real estate, academic and preservation fields, among others.
They presented to the City Council a plan that will benefit all the citizens and stakeholders in Elmhurst. Additionally,
we are most grateful to our elected officials for the unanimous 14-0 vote in passing this ordinance and their due diligence in the crafting of an agreement that respects and insures the rights, interests and concerns of all parties.
We have been at the forefront of the discussion of a preservation ordinance for the last two decades, and are
proud of the work of Joanne Brundage and Steve Michals, two of our Board Members who served so ably on the
Ad Hoc Committee.
Look for further information this winter on a seminar we will be conducting with representatives from multiple disciplines including architectural, governmental and legal entities that will address concerns or questions about the practical use and understanding of the Ordinance. Please refer back to this website as to program
date and location, and to write or e-mail us with any questions.
